The Downside of Nintendo Wii

Just recently, Nintendo unveiled its Wii console with its very own line up of games that you can download from the Internet. The wide selection of downloadable games serve as a way in order to broaden the appeal of this newly released console. It is a sure hit to many video games fanatics since its distribution costs significantly lesser than the previous products. In fact, distribution of gaming software is direct via a download service. Plus, the easy to enter barrier is really appealing especially to those small-scale developers cutting the way between distributors and retailers towards us. In theory, this is a developer’s way of giving us a better deal.

The Blunders

Is it not amazing? Not quite though. Try it out and you’ll discover why. Personally, I found some huge problems with this new gaming ware complete with the classic games of the 80’s. The interface is considerable but the machines limited storage will prove to be a big problem for constant users of this new Virtual Console. You will soon be faced with a difficult decision in making choices among your beloved games. With its 512MB capacity for storage, discarding some of your games will be inevitable. Keeping all of them is just not possible for you will soon run out of memory space.

Of course, there is another way that the dislikable discard option. Nintendo made sure that you would not be putting your money to waste by throwing away those precious downloaded games. You may store some of your games in an SD card. Sounds cool right? The thing is how would you feel if you have to copy those games back each time you decide to play on those safely stored games? This really proves to be tiring and would also be time consuming. This means you have to undergo a bit of a process before you can play it back and enjoy. Another question arises, what will happen if the avid player has already reached the storage limit of both the virtual memory and the S card? What alternatives are available?

Seriously, this is a game but why do we have to make a lot of fuss over it? Why isn’t as easy as 123 wherein you turn it on, play, and enjoy?
